Why Every Flipkart Seller Needs a Profit Calculator
If you sell on Flipkart, you already know the frustration: your Seller Hub dashboard shows sales, but it doesn’t show profit. Between marketplace fees, commission, shipping deductions, returns, cancellations, and delayed settlements, it’s almost impossible to know — order by order — whether you actually made money.
Most sellers end up doing one of two things:
- Guessing profitability based on “sale price minus product cost” (which ignores fees, returns, and settlement delays), or
- Manually reconciling Order Reports against Payment Reports in Excel, which takes hours every month and still leaves gaps.
The Flipkart P&L Calculator by EcomPnLTool solves this by automatically matching every Order Item ID in your Order Report to its corresponding entry in your Payment/Settlement Report, applying your product cost and packaging cost, and showing you exact net profit — per order, per SKU, and for your business as a whole.
This guide explains exactly how the tool works and walks you through using it from upload to export.
What EcomPnLTool’s Flipkart Profit Calculator Does
Unlike a generic margin calculator, this tool is built specifically around how Flipkart actually pays sellers. Here’s what it handles:
- Order-level reconciliation — matches every
order_item_idfrom your Orders export to the actual settlement amount Flipkart paid you, not just the listed sale price. - Handles delayed settlements — Flipkart typically pays out in the month after the order is placed, so the tool is designed to accept the current month’s and next month’s payment reports together, so nothing gets missed.
- Per-SKU cost mapping — assign a specific product cost to every SKU (bulk-set a default, edit individually, or bulk-import from an Excel/CSV sheet).
- Status-aware calculations — separates Delivered, Returned, Cancelled, Return Requested, Rejected, and Pending orders, and calculates profit accordingly (packaging cost, for example, only applies to delivered orders).
- Full P&L KPIs — total settlement received, total COGS, total packaging cost, misc fixed costs (rent, labour, electricity), net profit, and profit margin %.
- Return & cancellation rate tracking — since returns silently eat into profit, the tool surfaces your return % and cancellation % directly.
- Searchable, filterable order table — every order with its cost, settlement, and net profit, filterable by status and searchable by SKU/order ID/product name.
- One-click Excel and CSV export — download a complete report with a Summary sheet, SKU Breakdown sheet, Order Detail sheet, and a separate Pending Orders sheet for payments still awaited.
Everything runs in your browser — your files are processed locally and are never uploaded to a server, which matters if you’re dealing with sensitive sales data.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: How to Calculate Your Flipkart Profit on EcomPnLTool
Step 1: Download the Two Reports You Need from Flipkart Seller Hub
Before opening the calculator, grab these two files from your Flipkart Seller Hub:
- Order Report (XLSX) —Go to Seller Hub → Reports → Request New Report → fulfilment Reports → Request Orders Report(select monthly or custom range) → Download Report (XLSX),This file contains your
order_item_id, SKU, product title, quantity, and order status (Delivered, Returned, Cancelled, etc.). - Payment/Settlement Report (XLSX) — Go to Seller Hub → Reports → Payment Reports → Request Sattled Transactions Report → Dwonload Report (XLSX). This contains the actual amount Flipkart settled to your bank account per order.
Important: Because Flipkart usually settles payments in the month after the order, download both the current month’s and next month’s payment reports and upload them together. This ensures orders placed near month-end still get matched to their actual payout instead of showing as “pending.”
Step 2: Upload Your Order and Payment Reports
Open the EcomPnLTool Flipkart P&L Calculator and, on the Upload step:
- Drag and drop (or click to browse) your Order Report into the first upload zone. You can upload multiple order files at once if you’re covering several months.
- Drag and drop your Payment Reports into the second zone — again, multiple files are supported.
The tool automatically detects the header row, cleans up formatting issues in Flipkart’s raw XLSX export, and shows a live count of rows loaded from each file. Once both files are loaded, click “Set SKU Costs →”.
Step 3: Set Your Product Cost Per SKU
This is the step that makes the profit numbers accurate rather than approximate.
You have two options:
- Bulk import: Upload an Excel or CSV file with a
SKUcolumn and aCostcolumn (column names are auto-detected, so “Cost”, “Product Price”, etc. all work). You can download a ready-made template pre-filled with your actual SKUs to make this faster. - Manual entry: Every unique SKU from your Order Report is listed automatically, along with its order count and average sale price for reference. Type in a cost for each one, or use “Set all to ₹___” to apply a default cost across every SKU in one click, then fine-tune individual products.
Rows highlighted in green indicate costs that were pulled in from your imported file — anything left blank will fall back to the default cost you set in the next step.
Step 4: Configure Your Cost Parameters
On the Configure step, set three numbers:
- Default Product Cost (₹) — used automatically for any SKU you didn’t price individually.
- Packaging Cost (₹) per item — applied only to delivered orders (multiplied by quantity), since you don’t pay packaging on cancelled or never-shipped orders.
- Misc Fixed Costs (₹/month) — rent, labour, electricity, or any other overhead you want factored into the overall P&L.
The tool’s core formula is straightforward and transparent:
Net Profit = Bank Settlement Value − Product Cost − Packaging Cost − Misc Fixed Costs
Note that Flipkart’s marketplace fee, commission, and shipping fee are already deducted by Flipkart before it pays you — so they’re automatically reflected in the Bank Settlement Value and don’t need to be entered separately.
Click “Calculate P&L →” to run the analysis.
Step 5: Review Your Results
The Results screen gives you:
- KPI cards for total settlement received, total COGS, packaging cost, misc costs, net profit, and profit margin %, plus delivered/returned/cancelled/pending order counts and return/cancellation rates.
- Visual charts breaking down cost composition and order status distribution.
- A full order-by-order table showing SKU, quantity, status, unit cost, sale amount, settlement received, COGS, packaging cost, and net profit — with returned and return-requested rows highlighted so problem orders stand out immediately.
- Search and filter — instantly find a specific order ID, SKU, or product, or filter by status (e.g., show only Returned orders to see how much they cost you).
Orders whose payment hasn’t come through yet are clearly marked Pending, so you’re not misled into thinking you made a loss on an order that simply hasn’t settled.
Step 6: Export Your Report
Once you’re happy with the numbers, click:
- Download Excel Report for a multi-sheet workbook (Summary, SKU Breakdown, Order Detail, and Pending Orders) — perfect for sharing with your accountant or filing away for GST/tax records.
- Download CSV for a lightweight, single-sheet export of all order-level data.
- Download Pending Orders CSV to specifically track which orders are still awaiting settlement.
Common Questions About Flipkart Seller Profit Calculation
Why doesn’t my Flipkart profit match my “sale price minus cost” estimate? Because Flipkart deducts commission, marketplace fee, shipping fee, and sometimes collection charges before settling your payment. Your real profit is based on the settlement amount, not the listed sale price — which is exactly why this tool matches orders to actual payments instead of just order value.
Why do I need to upload next month’s payment report too? Flipkart typically pays out roughly 7–15 days after delivery confirmation, which often pushes into the following calendar month. Uploading both months’ payment reports ensures late-month orders aren’t wrongly flagged as unpaid.
How are returned and cancelled orders handled? Returned, Return Requested, Cancelled, and Rejected orders are tracked separately from Delivered orders so you can see exactly how much revenue and profit you lost to returns versus how much came from successful deliveries. Packaging cost is only applied to delivered orders, since you don’t ship products that get cancelled before dispatch.
Is my sales data safe with EcomPnLTool? Yes — all file processing happens locally in your browser. Your Order Report, Payment Report, and cost data are never uploaded to an external server.
Can I use this for multiple months at once? Yes. You can upload multiple Order Report files and multiple Payment Report files together, and the tool will consolidate them into a single combined P&L.
